Middle School (Yr 7-10) Programming Contest for Y9 and 10 Girls CG
  PC4G is a Programming contest intended for year 10 (and 9) girls.
You will learn Python programming before the contest, generally via the Introduction to Programming course online (self-paced learning at your own time). You will also learn how to install an IDE (app to write the programs) and practise some contest-style practice problems, before coming to the contest. You will compete in pairs.

Date: 13 November 2024
Venue: University of Canterbury
Program: Full day - a practice session, lunch, then the contest

  We are excited to announce our House Celebration Day! On Monday 21st October during Whanau time, students are encouraged to wear an item of clothing in their house colour—this could be socks, a shirt, hair ties, or any other accessory!

Important Instructions:

Middle School and Senior College students: Please go to your Whānau Class first to drop off your bags and get ticked off the roll.
After checking in, head to the Primary Field and sit with your house, facing the stage outside the Music Block.

Let’s show our house spirit and make this a fantastic celebration! We can’t wait to see everyone’s colours on display!

  On Friday lunchtime there will be several food trucks on site, along with the International College Food Festival, all to celebrate Middleton Grange's 60th.

  A pair of brown / gold glasses have been lost. They are inside a dark blue / purple glasses case with 'Anstice' on the outside of the case - they have a students name inside the case. If found, please hand in to Student Services. Thanks

Secondary (Yr 7-13) Polyfest group practices BA
  All those who were in the Polyfest group in March are expected to perform this Friday night in The Grange for the MGS 60th Jubilee celebrations 7pm start. Practices will be Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes in the Whare and Friday after lunch in the dance Studio then Friday evening 5.45pm in The Grange. Please all attend so performances look good for the MGS past pupils.

  Kia Ora everyone, I wanted to share a Māori word each week to increase students Te Reo Māori, an easy word that we can use daily.
Whītī - Fiji 
In honour of it being Fijian language week last week, the kupu this week is Fiji in Te Reo Māori.

Secondary (Yr 7-13) Writing workshops in January BA
  If you would like to sign up for writing workshops for teenagers in the January school holidays: 13th to 17th January at Ara, run by the School for Young Writers, please email Mrs Bailey for details. These workshops have to be funded by your parents.

 
 
Secondary (Yr 7-13) Year 10 Career Days BA
  Year 10s: Your work experience day is Tuesday 12th November. Please talk to your parents about where you can go on that day. It would be good to shadow a parent, ask a family friend or relative if you can work for them or contact your local vet/cafe owner or builder for a day's work experience. Try and follow your interests. There will be rewards for the students who send in photos of their work experience day when we have Careers Day the following day.

 
 
Senior College (Yr 11-13) Scholarship for Year 12s BA
  If you are currently in Year 12, would like to study Agriculture, Agribusiness or Economics after Year 13 and got Merit or Excellence endorsement at Level 1 NCEA, you could be eligible to apply for a $12 000 scholarship. See or email Mrs Bailey for more details and criteria. The deadline is 3rd November and quite a bit of documentation has to be completed.

  Year 13s: University of Canterbury is reminding future students to complete their applications to enrol for 2025 by 13th December via myUC. B Fine Art, B Music Performance and B Teaching and Learning have different application requirements and earlier deadlines, please check the website.
